JaYmo is . . . "Honest, Warped & Fertile!"

ahead of playing at Pete Tong's 'Wonderland' @ Eden in Ibiza --- Muzik Snob managed to catch up with JaYmo, for a sweet little Q&A :::::

- "Put yourself out there in three words."
>>> "Honest, warped, fertile"

- "What is your personal motto?"
>>> "Say your prayers & eat your vitamins.... No, sorry, that's Hulk Hogan's motto. Erm.... I often slip into the mindset of a wrestler. My favourite is the Buzzy Bee, his special move is 'The Sting'. I find this afflication helps when I'm trying to make my tracks sound more meaty."

- "What goes down as your best MODA ever?"
>>> "First one at the 1600 capacity Engine Shed. We went from 400 to 1600 people overnight- a brave move for any promoter. But our rep had been getting really far spread and we always sold out. This event was yet another sell out, suitable headlined by Kissy Sell Out. It was broadcast on Radio 1, with Andy and me doing a live Essential Mix! That's a lot of firsts in one night- next level shizzle!"

- "What is your biggest Blunder?"
>>> "Not having a hugely distinguishing feature like Andy George. I need something to rival his enormous hair that allows me to be spotted in public, maybe at Boots when I'm queing up to check my Club Card points."

- "Which producer, for you, is making the biggest sounds at the moment?"
>>> "Bassline/ wobbly stuff is still wicked, but there's a lot of crap around that is ultimately having a negative effect on the scene. It's wicked that more people are getting into producing & that software is easier to use than ever before, but if you really wanna make it as a producer you should hold back until you are ready. First impressions count!

For big names, obviously Touche/ Fake Blood is still a killer- he's been my favourite DJ & producer since waaaay back & he is still one of the best. Detboi, Foamo, Sinden, Drop The Lime - they consistently make wicked tracks and push things forward.... The kings of 2009 will be inevitably be Diplo & Switch, with their Major Lazer project- Pon De Floor absolutely kills every floor we've played in to across Europe- no one is safe!

My first love as far as Dance music goes was Disco & French House, so I'm really happy that sound has come around again. His Majesty Andre, Grum, Louis La Roche, Russ Chimes, the Valerie crew - they're all making amazing music with lots of funk and melodies- it works great in our sets & is really anecdotal to the end-of-the-world bassline stuff thats dominated 2008.

On the Urban tip, Toddla T deserves all the credit he gets.... Skanky Skanky is one of the best albums to come from a dance music producer ever. He's a top lad too, mega modest & just couldn't give a damn about the limelight."

- "The filthy-grimey sounds that are hitting the scene at the moment; where do YOU think they come from?"
>>> "I heard you got that specific sound by circuit bending a Mini-Moog with 1% of germs that Flash can't kill (you know, the flying ones)."

- "Who do you think deserves a shout-out?"
>>> "Me - big up!"

- "are you a :::: Beat Junky OR Sample Lover?"
>>> "Samples all the way!! All my favourite music is sample based, whether is stuff that is 99% samples like all the old Crydamoure & Roule releases, HMA, Louis La Roche etc or just stuff that uses a killer sample as the main feature of the track like Daft Punk.... I love trawling through old music looking for samples, I've never released anything heavily sample based yet, but I will do soon!"

- "What is your best party trick?"
>>> "Turning up on time.... I don't do it very often"

- "At the end of the night, what would be your perfect walk-home tune?"
>>> "Depends what I'm doing on the walk home really. If it involves the possibility of exposing myself in public then probably a spot of Black Sabbath, just to get the blood going.

If we're talking about some sexy time then something pretty romantic... Ass & Titties by DJ Assault?

But if I'm just trying to wind down then, hmmmm, anything by Air, maybe Cherry Blossom Girl as it always reminds of this one particle day when I was listening to it in beaming sunshine. I have a real soft spot for Air, obviously Moon Safari was amazing but Talkie Walkie was equally as epic. Darkel's stuff is cool too!"

- "Who is your TOP cartoon Hero?"
>>> "Eat Your Greens from Stop It & Tidy Up... he was packing 5 a day way before any government funded initiatives."

- "A question from you, to me . . . ."
>>> "What did the bits you edited out of the deTBoi interview say & can I use them as evidence against him in a court of law?"
- "Sadly, they shall be accompanying me to the grave . . . I promised deTBoi to keep my lips sealed and, like 'Eat Your Greens,' i like my 2 veg too much to break a promise with him!?!"

- "whoomp there it is, what do you think it is?"
>>> "A spelling mistake, or maybe an acronym?

Does it stand for 'Wild Horses Often Overcome Male Prejudice'?

Yes, thats it, its a tagline for an equine female activists group. Sorted."

- "and that's a WRAP . . . big up to JaYmo, BIG UP indeedio!!! . . . all the best with Ibiza and I can speak on behalf of all the Muzik Snob readers; '''''Hit us UP with some new tunes, SOOOOOON!!!!'''''

enjoy : MODA x

DiRTYSMaRT is a . . . "Smiley, party person!"

following on from the previous DiRTYSMaRT article, Muzik Snob managed to track down the DiRTYSMaRT boys for a swift Q&A session . . . . . .

- "Put yourself out there in three words."

>>> "Smiley party person."

- "What is your personal motto?"
>>> "Save time, see it my way."

- "Which three djs/acts, would start - middle - finish your perfect line-up?"
>>> "Tough question, I suppose it would have to be : Booka Shade, Laidback Luke, Deadmau5"

- "What has been your biggest ever Blunder?"
>>> "Djing at Wakestock festival in 2008. I got a little too enthusiastic jumping around behind the decks, tripped off the crate I was standing on and fell on my arse infront of 7000 people."

- "You guys are sponsoring the IBIZA club night - Electric Vendetta - going into the Summer party season. What/who do you think is going to be the sound of our Summer?"
>>> This summer is going to be a tough one to call. There are so many great nights every day of the week. I think this year is going to be a bit more tribal/ electro/ fidget?y, at the same time keep the euphoric sound Ibiza is famous for."

- "Where/who/what did you get the inspiration(s) for DiRTYSMaRT from?"
>>> "Music all the way. Our designs all have music connotations and we will keep things that was as long as we are around. Non of this conforming to the mass market bull shit. I came up with this idea for the clubbing industry alone."

- "Who do you think deserves a shout-out?"
>>> "Everyone that has supported us through the last 6 months."

- "do you like your djs to be :::: track-droppers OR euphoric-blenders?"
>>> "Droppers. If im listening to a Dj I want to know that he is there, putting everything into his set. Non of this outro to intro mixing shite."

- "What is your best party trick?"
>>> "Taking £100,000 from a group of shareholders and quadrupling it in 4 months!"

- "What is your perfect getting ready to go out track?"
>>> "Deadmau5- the reward is cheese"

- "If you could have a super-hero power, what would it be?"
>>> "Not arsed."

- "A question from you, to me. . . ."
>>> "Why is Deadmau5 called Deadmau5"
- "Apparently Joel Zimmerman, the man behind the Deadmau5 guise, named himself 'dead mouse' after an incident with a mouse getting into his computer and biting off a little more than it could chew . . . 'dead mouse' then became 'Deadmau5' for ease of login names; being both concise and unique. . . . . well that's what a little birdy told me ;)"

- "I asked the same question to detBoi and he threw this question out there. .
so" . . . "whoomp there it is, what do you think it is?"
>>> "Whoooomp was the sound of the creation of the universe.
Tag Team are taking the piss out of scientists. L. Ron Hubbard wrote a book on the big bang theory titled, ?Poof, There It Is?.
I would like to think the Tag Team where right and the universe was made with a Whooooooomp! not a poof!"

Thanks to DiRTYSMaRT for the Q&A and MASSIVEmassiveMASSIVE --- BiG UP!! --- for your night in iBIZA :::::
